Maiden Voyage

The vastness of the ocean of life and the world is waiting for me. I venture forth. God, that sounds so--pretentious. I got the courage to seriously think about starting my own blog when I heard the author of the movie "Juno" speaking on NPR. A guy called in to ask her how was it that she was able to get someone to look at her screen play. I'm sure he thought it was a foolish question, one to which a vague answer is: being at the right place at the right time; or, you gotta have connections. Instead she said that the Internet is a powerful tool and starting a blog is the first step. I don't even remember her name. I'm gonna see the flick and get her name and look for her writings. I have a son who is a gifted guitarist and I am trying to get him to start a blog. He's trying to get started by going the conventional route: getting a manager or playing at some venue and having an Important Person hear him perform, who will then sweep him into Starland and Success. But what does an old man know, right? Well, let's see if this old man knows something.
